Az örökké elfeledett hősi halott – Marancsik Pál halálának kálváriája

Az 1944. március 19-i német megszállás egyetlen jelentősebb katonai ellenállását Újvidéken, a péterváradi Duna-hídon hajtották végre. A 16. határvadász zászlóalj tűzharcba került a német csapatokkal. Felesége elköltözött a településről, sírja elhanyagolttá vált. 1975-ben az ifjúgárdisták, 1999-ben a határőrség tette rendbe a nyughelyét. A szakirodalom változatosan, a mai napig hol Narancsik, hol Marancsik névvel illeti a német megszállókkal szembeszálló magyar hősi halottat. Családfakutatás módszereivel is bizonyható, hogy a felső-bácskai család Marancsik volt, mégsem történik meg nevének helyreigazítása. Személye nem vált a magyar emlékezetpolitika és emlékezetkultúra részévé.

The forgotten hero – death and memory of Pál Marancsik in the Second World War

During the German occupation of Hungary  − on 19th March 1944 – one event of the Hungarian resistance happened on the Danube-bridge of Pétervárad (now Serbia). The 16th Hungarian Frontier Jaeger Battalion got involved in combat with the pushing forward German military forces. The only loss on the Hungarian party was a reservist private soldier, Pál Marancsik. This war hero – a plowman by trade – was buried in March 1944 in the little town of Bácsalmás, south of Hungary (now Hungary). In 1949 a street was named after him in his hometown Bácsalmás, but  it is not known why they used the  –ʻNarancsik’ form instead of the right form ʻMarancsik’ even on his grave. He was ranked as an organiser of the labour movement later the years of so called communism (in fact socialism). His wife moved to another settlement and his tomb became derelict. After many years his grave was tidied by the Young Guard in 1975 and in 1999 by the Hungarian Frontier Guard. Historians use both the names ʻNarancsik’ and ʻMarancsik’. It is proven that the right form of the family name was Marancsik that was not very rare in the Felső-Bácska region. His act and death have not become part of the national memory. Officially a forgotten hero – even his name is not important for the nation.
